French Art Deco advertising poster for Anjou Vins Mousseux (Anjou sparkling wines), designed by Amoro and dated 1932 in the image.

The composition depicts an elegantly dressed couple enjoying sparkling wine, rendered in a striking geometric Art Deco style with a period palette of green, orange, brown, black and red.

The poster is signed and dated in the plate at lower right, “AMORO. 32”, and bears the printer’s identification “AFFICHES GAILLARD, PARIS. AMIENS.” along the lower left margin. Affiches Gaillard was a French commercial poster printer active in Paris and Amiens.

The tan printed poster sheet has comparable examples of this same design and approximately the same 15 x 23 1/2 inch format have been catalogued as circa-1930s French petite advertising posters.

The original poster sheet has been mounted to a larger white paper support with a penciled “300—” notation, this is considered a later dealer, framer, inventory or price notation rather than an edition number.

Framed under glazing in a black frame with white surround. 

A particularly appealing example of early-1930s French wine advertising, combining the glamour of the cocktail age with bold Art Deco graphic design.

Excellent vintage condition consistent with age and use. The poster sheet is mounted to a larger paper support. Toning and minor age-related surface characteristics are visible. Frame shows expected light wear. Please review photographs for condition and presentation.
