Hertel, Jacob & Co. was founded in 1906 and became highly regarded for producing durable, pure white hotel porcelain, laboratory porcelain, and pharmacy storage vessels. Because apothecary jars needed to withstand chemical contents and frequent cleaning, the factory applied these identification marks beneath the clear glaze (underglaze) to prevent them from wearing away over time.
Excellent antique condition. No chips, cracks or repairs. Normal wear from use and age.
