Antique English Victorian H&S EP Silver Plate Fish Serving Knife & Fork Set Bone Handles

Made in England c. 1880-1900.

Antique English Victorian two-piece fish serving set, comprising a large fish serving knife and five-tine serving fork, dating approximately

Fork: Approximately 9" Long
Knife: Approximately 12" Long

Case Approximately 1 3/4" High x 13 3/8" Long x 4 1/2" Wide.

The servers feature richly engraved floral, foliate and scroll decoration across the broad knife blade and fork, with ornate silver-plated ferrules and warm cream-colored polished bone handles.

The fork is marked H & S E P, identifying the set as electroplate (EP). The exact H&S manufacturer remains unidentified; the set is consistent with late Victorian English Sheffield or Birmingham production.

The set retains its original fitted presentation case with deep blue velvet fitted lower interior and blue satin-lined lid. The combination of extensive engraving, decorative ferrules, natural bone handles and surviving fitted case makes this a particularly attractive example of Victorian tableware.

Excellent antique condition with age-appropriate surface wear and light scratching to the electroplated surfaces. The bone handles show attractive warm age patina, natural grain and color variation. One handle has a longitudinal age-related hairline/check extending from near the ferrule; the handle remains intact and secure. The fitted case shows expected exterior edge and surface wear, missing original hinge piece, and on side wood piece. The blue interior remains attractive. Please see description for all condition details.
