Antique French Heavy Gilt Monumental Size Hand-Blown Glass Vase
Made in France c. 1900-1910.
Approximately 20 3/4" High x 7" Diameter at Widest.
Monumental antique French hand-blown clear optic glass vase distinguished by a dramatic flared, ruffled rim, elongated vertically ribbed neck, and full lobed lower body.
Elaborate raised gilt decoration sweeps across the glass in scrolling Rococo-inspired foliage, floral sprays, vines, and ornamental flourishes.
The interplay of transparent glass, optic ribbing, sculptural silhouette, and richly detailed gold ornament gives this striking vase exceptional presence as a centerpiece or display object.
The underside has a polished pontil, consistent with hand-finished glass.
The overall form and gilding suggest French decorative glass of the late nineteenth to early twentieth century, circa 1890–1910.
The decoration recalls work associated with Mont Joye / Legras & Cie, although the vase is unmarked and this attribution remains unconfirmed.
