Approximately 8" High including the reclining lion finial x 6" Diameter.
A distinctive antique American Victorian covered glass compote attributed to Gillinder & Sons, Philadelphia, in the Frosted Lion pattern, dating to the late nineteenth century.
This low-form example combines a clear pressed-glass bowl with a richly molded ornamental rim, a fitted lid crowned by a beautifully modeled reclining satin-frosted lion, and a low frosted glass base featuring lion figures in relief.
The contrast between the clear and frosted surfaces highlights the sculptural decoration.
