Rare Antique J. Kent Fenton England Octagonal Exotic Bird & Floral Plates Set of 8

Made in England c. 1910-1920s.

Each Approximately 3/4" High x 8 1/2" Long x 9" Wide (point to point).

A rare and striking set of eight antique octagonal earthenware plates by James Kent of Fenton, Staffordshire, England, dating to the early 20th century, likely circa 1910–1920s.

Each plate displays a richly ornamented, Oriental-inspired design centered on an exotic bird amid an abundant arrangement of flowering branches, foliage, and fruit.

The bird's green and yellow plumage provides a lively focal point against the densely decorated green ground, while pink, yellow, and other multicolored blossoms and clusters of purple grapes create a layered botanical composition.

The intricate repeat pattern fills the surrounding surface, complemented by the angular eight-sided silhouette and a finely gilded rim.

The result is an especially decorative example of English transfer-decorated and colored pottery in the tradition of early chintz and exotic-bird tablewares.

The reverse bears the J. Kent, Fenton, England / Made in England crowned-globe maker's mark. The exact factory pattern name has not been definitively identified.

Offered as one complete matching set of eight plates.

Great antique condition overall for age, with expected surface and gilt wear. All eight have some fading to the gold edging. Six plates are in good antique condition apart from crazing and discoloration on the backs. One additional plate has a hairline crack on its underside, and one plate has an edge chip that has been partially repaired. Please review photos for condition details.
