This specific artifact holds deep historical ties to the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite (AASR) of Freemasonry in Baltimore, Maryland.
Historical Provenance:
* Chesapeake Consistory No. 1: A prominent chapter of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry (Southern Jurisdiction), operating out of Baltimore, Maryland since its establishment on May 15, 1885.
* M.R.S. Designation: Stands for Master of the Royal Secret, denoting the highly prestigious 32nd Degree of Scottish Rite Masonry.
Design & Aesthetics:
Crafted in the classic late-Victorian Aesthetic Movement / early-Edwardian style, the tray features an elegant geometric shape with distinctive cut corners and a beautifully etched, delicate floral border accentuating the perimeter.
The back is completely unbranded/unmarked, typical of commercial blanks of the era manufactured by prominent New England silversmiths for custom localization by regional engravers and jewelers.
Great antique condition considering its age, displaying a highly reflective finish. Minor surface wear, faint hairline scratches from historic cleaning, and small scattered dark tarnish spots consistent with authentic silverplate age. One small dent up from behind, most likely from hanging. Otherwise perfectly flat base, no major dents, deep gouges, or warping. The engraved lettering remains deep, crisp, and completely legible. Normal wear from use and age. (Please review all attached high-resolution photos for exact cosmetic detail).
