Antique Wedgwood Stanley Pattern Majolica Footed Compote
Made in England, c. 1870s.
Approximately 3" High x 8 3/4" Diameter.
Antique Victorian English majolica footed compote by Wedgwood in the Stanley pattern, circa 1870s.
The shallow circular dish features a richly molded emerald-green basket-weave interior surrounding a golden-yellow central medallion.
A border of white daisy-like flowers with yellow centers appears against a deep cobalt-blue ground, framed by a green crosshatched rim.
The dish is raised on an ornate three-footed pedestal decorated with cobalt-blue panels, golden-yellow scrollwork, brown outlines, and molded green foliate feet.
The underside has striking mottled tortoiseshell-style glazes in green, ochre, and brown.
The foot bears the impressed WEDGWOOD name and a Victorian British diamond-shaped registered-design mark. The registration mark identifies the design registration rather than the precise manufacturing date.
Excellent antique condition. Age-related glaze crazing visible on the underside. Overall condition, including any chips, cracks or repairs, should be confirmed before publication.
