An exceptional French Art Deco tea service by Christofle, designed by Danish silversmith and designer Christian Fjerdingstad (1891–1968). Fjerdingstad worked with Christofle during the firm's important Art Deco period and is recognized for his sculptural, streamlined approach to silver design.

This striking four-piece service combines highly polished silver-plated surfaces with contrasting dark wood handles and finials. The rounded geometric forms, sweeping loop handles and restrained ornament are characteristic of Fjerdingstad's modernist Art Deco vocabulary.

The set comprises a teapot, creamer, covered sugar bowl and two-handled serving tray.

The tray is impressed “design FJERDINGSTAD / CHRISTOFLE / FRANCE” together with Christofle hallmarks and the limited-edition number 162 / 500.

Christofle identifies Fjerdingstad as one of the key representatives of the company's Art Deco movement. He worked with the maison beginning in 1924, and Christofle's historical material identifies the rounded “1925” Tea & Coffee Service as a design dating to 1933. The design has become sufficiently important within Christofle's history that the company has reintroduced selected Fjerdingstad designs in its contemporary collection.

Excellent vintage condition with light surface wear and fine scratches consistent with age, previous use and the highly polished nature of the silver-plated surfaces. The dark wood elements present well. Please examine all photographs closely as they form an important part of the condition description.
