French Art Nouveau Cast Iron Figural Poppy Blossom Centerpiece with Resting Maiden
Made in France c. 1900.
Approximately 5 3/4" High x 9 1/2" Long x 7 1/2" Wide,
7 lbs.
French Art Nouveau figural centerpiece, circa 1890–1910, depicting a resting maiden seated amid a dramatic arrangement of three oversized poppy blossoms.
The highly sculptural floral bowls are modeled with deeply ribbed petals, textured centers and an elaborate foliate base.
Substantial cast-metal construction with gilt-toned surfaces and surviving polychrome painted decoration to the figure.
Excellent antique condition. Noticeable loss and flaking to the painted decoration on the maiden, patina and age-related surface wear. The maiden is slightly loose. The underside shows an assembled construction with central threaded fastener and added blue felt pads. Please examine images for condition. Structural integrity and absence of repairs have not been independently confirmed.
