Antique HST Djokja (Yogya) .800 Silver Articulated Pierced Footed Centerpiece / Fruit Bowl
An unusually elaborate hand-worked Indonesian silver centerpiece from the celebrated Djokja/Yogya silver tradition of Yogyakarta, Java.
The underside is clearly stamped HST above 800, indicating .800 (80%) silver fineness.
The exceptional feature of this example is its articulated sectional construction.
The broad decorative surround is composed of individually worked linked sections rather than a simple continuous rigid rim.
Each section is extensively pierced/reticulated, chased and worked in high relief, creating an intricate openwork border around the central well.
The decoration incorporates repeating stylized floral/lotus-bud motifs amid dense scrolling foliage, with deeply oxidized recesses producing the dramatic light-and-dark contrast characteristic of fine Djokja silverwork.
The central oval well is hand-hammered and framed by a polished border and fine rope-twist detail. A scalloped outer edge and four rounded ball feet complete the form.
Excellent vintage condition with age-appropriate surface wear and oxidation/patina. The darkened recessed areas are an important visual element of the decoration and have been left intact. The intricate pierced and articulated construction should be handled with care. Please review photographs for condition and details.
Shipping: Recommended packed box approximately 16 × 13 × 7 inches. Estimated packed shipping weight approximately 4 lb, allowing substantial protective wrapping and cushioning around the articulated openwork border and four feet.
