Substantial artisan-made statement bib necklace crafted in 925 sterling silver and set with 23 individually mounted faceted purple gemstones, believed to be amethyst, total 129 g gross weight. .

The dramatic articulated bib is constructed from individual open-backed silver settings joined by soldered connecting rings, allowing the necklace to flex and conform when worn.

The graduated arrangement combines rectangular shoulder stones with elongated marquise/leaf and other faceted forms that build toward the large central drop.

Open backs allow light to pass through the richly colored stones and reveal the traditional hand-assembled construction.

The jeweled section transitions into an unusual handmade-looking silver chain composed of elongated oval/marquise-shaped links joined by smaller connecting links.

It terminates in a simple hand-fashioned hook-and-ring closure.

The clasp, chain, visible solder work, articulation and natural surface patina give the piece a distinctly vintage artisan character. While these construction features are consistent with older handmade jewelry, the exact maker, country of origin and date remain unidentified.
