Vintage Hand Blown Studio Art Cased Glass Heart & Vine Footed Ruffled Vessel c. 1970s
Approximately 8 1/2" high x 8 3/4" Diameter at the widest edge-to-edge point.
Striking vintage American studio art glass footed vessel, circa 1970s, featuring a bold coral-orange/red body with freehand smoky brown Heart & Vine decoration, fine trailing, a dramatically hand-worked five-lobed ruffled mouth, and a narrow silver/platinum-colored lustre trim along the upper edge.
The decoration combines large, individually formed heart motifs with broad flowing ribbon-like vines and extremely fine wandering trails, giving the vessel a strong Art Nouveau revival character associated with the American studio glass movement of the 1970s. The sculptural body rises above a broad applied circular pedestal foot.
The design shows stylistic relationships to period Heart & Vine and Hanging Hearts glass produced by American studios and artists including Robert Barber/Dave Fetty-era Fenton, Donald Carlson and related studio-glass makers.
The unusual five-lobed form, metallic-looking rim treatment and unmarked pontil-finished base make this an especially interesting research piece.
Hand-blown art glass; coral-orange/red body; smoky translucent brown heart-and-vine/ribbon decoration; fine freehand trailing; five-lobed hand-worked ruffled rim; narrow silver/platinum-colored lustre edge trim; applied pedestal foot; partial pontil scar to underside; no visible signature or maker's mark.
